Missiles designed to punch through armoured targets. 3 launchers per wrist, with 3 missiles per launcher.
Signature Valkyrie attack. The unit unloads with every weapon it has, hoping to take out the enemy with overwhelming firepower.
As the Protector Weapon System almost entirely covers the VF-1 frame, if the module is badly damaged it can be purged in order to allow the Valkyrie to recover full freedom of movement. Unfortunately, the module also requires covering the weapon hardpoints, so the VF-1 launches with it's base armament.
As the VF-1D was designed to be a combat trainer, at least partially, it has room for a co-pilot to help control the Variable Fighter.
In order to help protect Valkyries in less mobile heavy combat scenarios, UN Spacy developed an armoured module that can be installed on a VF-1 to increase their defenses. Also it mounts more missiles. Unfortunately, it turned out that putting a lot of armour on a machine designed to be highly mobile doesn't work out all that well, so the Protector Weapon System wasn't used very often.
In both the original TV series and the movie, very few Armored Valkyries were seen other then the VF-1J Armored Valkyrie, but due to the nature of the packs, they are usable on all VF-1s.
