Magical Soldier: Michiko

Episode 0: History, the start of chaos.

The seemingly pristine world of Rune, a planet much like earth... Though with some major differences, the most notable of which being the natural energies produced by all things, be it plant, animal, or mineral... This energy is Mana, the energy that powers the world, leading scientists to create generators to process this useful, yet somewhat unstable, power. The main source of the mana used to power the world's cities comes from animite, a surprisingly common stone made up of naturaly condensed mana, much like earth's coal and diamonds, the only issue with this material though, is that it cannot be cut or mined by normal means, drill bits being easily destroyed upon contact. The only thing that can damage animite is animite, or a focused blade of mana.

The need for Animite lead to the rise of MLMs (Mobile Labor Modules), originaly used to dig out mine shafts without fear of being trapped by cave-ins, they expanded into construction and demolition purposes, and with the expansion of the kingdoms, they were soon modified with a new purpose in mind, War... The next stage in technology had risen.

The MCFs (Mobile Combat Frames)... But with war came an instability... Dark Mana, an evil power, bringing about a new era, an era of darkness and fear as beings born of this dreaded force wrought destruction across Rune... But even here nature has a way of balancing the scales.

From this chaos, the Anima were born, Humans with animite imbeded in their bodies while still in the womb, allowing them to control the mana they naturaly produce, for many this is viewed as a blessing, though not all anima are seen as such, the Dark Anima for example, infused with dark mana, are viewed as a curse.

With the growing knowledge of the nature of Anima, a new form of mech was developed, the Mana Frame, designed much like an MCF, but rather than a cockpit, it holds a Animtie Capsule, which as it's name suggests, is a tube made of Animite, and filled with liquified animite while the Anima is inside, allowing the Anima to control the mech with their minds due to both the increased control over their mana, and the amplification caused by the Animite.

The four kingdoms that remained from the long costly war and the attacks by the 'Dark Ones', Guylas, the nation that has suffered the least by the wars, a prosperous nation famous for the loyalty of it's military, Kizan, a militaristic nation, suffered heavily in the battles with the 'dark ones', known for it's brutal elite, hardened by the heat from the active volcanoes that surround their subterranean kingdom, Balos, a ruthless mercenary kingdom, holding loyalty only to money, they profited the most from the many battles, and Gaizo, a nomadic tribe that travel the deserts in the north, striving for survival, masters of camouflage and the use of their environments, have banded together, atleast for the time, in order to face the beings of Dark Mana.

Okay, see, since you have your submission up here I'll assume that it's complete:

As it is right now, this submission tells us how this mech looks like and what weapons it has, but does nothing to tell us why it EXISTS, so until then, this entry is rejected.

This is not to say that the entire submission is denied, but keep your WIP stuff in the WIP thread, that's what they're there for now and post only completed submissions in this thread.

Magical Soldier: Michiko

Empire of Guylas: Ready

IMF-003 Kusanagi (Mana Frame)

The third prototype MF created by the Imperial Guylas Military, designed personaly for and by Michiko Kajiri, a tall slender mech with a borderline feminine design, it's hands and face coated in a skin like material, said face able to alter it's expression to match the pilot's. The rest of it's body is comprised of sheets of high durability metal, coated with a layer of animite to further increase durability. It's armor is designed as an ornate breast plate wit ha metalic skirt circling it's waist, grieves and wrist guards in which the mech's mana sabers are stored. Upon it's head are thin threads of pink animite, placed to look like hair and and a animite circlet which houses various sensors, and it is powered by a high performance Animite processor, a generator which draws mana from shards of animite to power the MF. It was designed as a balanced unit with a focus on close range combat, making it heavily reliant on it's pilot, and if anyone besides an Anima attempts to pilot it, it's performance is severely crippled. Like the other Mana Frames, it was desinged to make full use of an Anima's powers in the fight against the Dark Mana Beings.

Weapons-

Mana Vulcans: A pair of Vulcans mounted on Kusanagi's shoulders which fire off small animite capsules charged with mana.

Animite Pins: The Kusanagi spins, sending out a spray of the animite pins that make up it's hair

Animite Pins [Charged]: A spray of pins charged with mana. Can pierce most barriers, though still aren't much more powerful that they would be without the charge.

Cherubim Sabers: a pair of mana sabers, powered by animite shards, a pair of tiny angel wing like protrusions acting as hand guards.

Dual-Mana rifle: a prototype mana rifle that features two barrels rather than one, raising it's damage output, but drains more mana than a normal rifle.

Cherubim Sabers [Full Output]: Kusanagi's sabers, using the Anima's powers to bypass the mana limiters, making the weapons even more powerful, at the cost of stability and energy efficiency.

Animite Hammer: A large chained mace, the head simply a steel ball with animite shards covering the surface.

Animite Hammer [Charged]: An animite hammer charged with mana, allowing it to plow through most barriers and relases a pulse of energy when it strikes. When used properly this weapon can break through most barriers used against it. Only Anima have the degree of mana control to use

Animite Buster: A massive double bladed sword crafted of animite, stored on a special rack on the Kusanagi's back, fairly unimpressive when used by those without the powers of an Anima but...

Animite Buster [Charged]: Animite buster charged with mana through an Anima's control over the energy. Able to cut through most barriers.

Mana Cannon: a powerful bazooka that fires off animite capsules that explode upon impact with a target, releasing a destructive pulse of mana energy.

MAP Weapons-

Mana Cannon [shockwave]: a powerful bazooka that fires off animite capsules that explode upon impact with a target, releasing a destructive pulse of energy that is extended by the Anima's power.

Other-

Animite Shell- the Kusanagi is coated with a fine layer of Animite, Improving it's armor and reducing damage from most physical attacks (armor that reduces the damage of all non beam weapons)

Crown sensors- the sensors in the Kusanagi's circlet provides a direct link to the pilot's mind displaying a highly detailed view of the surroundings beyond the pilot's range of vision (looking for something similar to Head Gear)

Mana Field- An Anima piloting the Kusanagi can charge it's animite shell with mana, creating a barrier that prevents most low level attacks, though doesn't work as well against oncoming mana attacks (simply a medium power barrier with reduced effectiveness against beams)

Weapon/Ability in question: Uncharged Animite weapons (Pins, Hammer, Buster)

Issues with Weapon/Ability: Missing.

Possible Solution: Adding them perhaps?

Reasoning for Solution: The charged forms of the weapon require focus on the Pilot's (for the sake canon, Anima's) part, and thus, can't be used all the time without some kind of mental or physical strain, let alone injury, to the 'Anima' (Again, using the term for the sake of canon)

Well, the reason I left them out is because, well, they're redundant. There's literally no reason you'd ever use the uncharged versions of the attacks. It seemed silly to make them seperate, so I just made them one attack.

Contest Mobile Suit Gundam UC 0079 MSV

Zaku II Assault Type (Mobile Suit)

A step up from the standard Zaku II, it was originaly designed to supplement the Principality of Zeon's dwindling in the later periods of the OYW, however, due to issues with funding and parts, by the time it was completed, the battle of A Baoa Qu had already ended and the peace treaties signed, and as such, it never saw combat. It's main body is that of a Zaku II, but rather than mounting a single shield and spiked shoulder plate, it mounts two shields, thus slwoing it slightly, but increasing it's defensive capabilities, along with standard weapons, it was also mounted with a pair of heat rods, one on either arm, reminiscent of the Gouf's, in theory, this would allow it to immobilize enemies and hold them in place, either to let allies attack, or to allow time for the Zaku to move in for the kill. Another unique feature was the mine launcher mounted on the underside of the right forearm, allowing a skilled pilot to set up mines as traps or use the heat rods to drag enemies to their deaths.

Weapons-

120mm Machinegun- Standard production drum-fed machinegun used by most Zaku units.

Ram- A tackling attack, using the unit's shoulder shields as weapon. (Slightly stronger version of the F-type's tackle)

Heat Hawk- A battery powered hand axe with a heat charged blade.

3-tube missile pods- a pair of missile pods, one mounted on either leg.

Cracker Grenade- A hand thrown grenade that breaks apart and creates a wide spread explosion either on contact or after a short period of time.

Heat Rods- mounted on either arm, a pair of whip like cables that can deliver a strong enough jolt of electricity to temporarily disable an enemy unit.

Magella Top Cannon- A powerful long range weapon with the same design as the main cannon mounted on Magella Attacks.

280mm Bazooka- A fairly weapon that fires explosive shells, designed for use against heavily armored enemies.

Other-

Shield: a pair so shoulder mounted shields, reinforced so that they may be able to withstand more damage than those of a normal Zaku II.

Floating Mines: A powerful explosive charge that floats in the air for a short time, launched from a launcher on the underside of the right forearm.

Magical Soldier: Michiko

Empire of Guylas: Ready

IMCF-001 Legionnaire (Mobile Combat Frame)

The foundation of the Imperial Guylas army, built for both defense and offense, generally painted white with the torso resembling a Loirica, and it's head resembling a crestless Galea (Though those of more prominent soldiers bore crests), eyes glowing green when activated. They are often seen carrying a Scutum, a great red rectangular shields the height of their bodies, adorned with the Guylas seal, a laurel with a sword laying over it. Despite being the first MCF to be produced by the Empire, it has still yet to lose it's usefulness in combat. Originally designed as a front line fighter during the early stages of the Great War, it was later outfitted for ranged combat as new technologies and better mana processing procedures were developed.

Weapons-

Animite Pugio: A short animite dagger with a leaf shaped blade, mainly used as an auxiliary weapon or quickly striking an enemy from behind.

Animite Gladius: A broad stout sword, carried in a scabbard hanging from the mech's right side, with a blade crafted of animite, often used for thrusting, though it's keen edge and wide blade make it just as suitable for slashing.

Pilum: A long heavy metal spear with a pyramid shaped animite head and a weighted end, designed primarily for throwing rather than stabbing.

Mana Rifle: A simple rifle that loads animite caps (small cylindrical pieces of animite, resembling shotgun shells), which release a burst of mana down the gun's barrel. A small lens is fitted to the end to focus the energy and to prevent it from simply dispersing as it leaves the barrel.

Mana Cannon: a powerful bazooka that fires off animite capsules that explode upon impact with a target, releasing a destructive pulse of mana energy.

Combos-

Chain of command: Rallying with a commanding centurion, the legionnaires pull into formation, thus maximizing their fighting capability. Once in formation, the Legionaries lay down cover fire for the Centurion as it moves in to attack with it's Gladius. (this would require an Allied Centurion and at least one other Legionnaire)

Other-

Shield: The Scutum is one of the most essential pieces of equipment for the legionnaire as it charges into combat, the wall of metal protects it from most incoming attacks.

~~~~
IMFC-002 Centurion (Mobile Combat Frame)
While the Legionnaires composed the body of the Imperial Gulyas army, the Centurions composed the head, piloted by elites and high ranking officers, they were sent to the front lines to lead the legions. Built similar to the Legionnaire, though the torso is somewhat more ornate, and it bears arm guards and grieves. The crest upon it's head is turned so it went side to side rather than front to back.
Weapons-
Animite Pugio: A short animite dagger with a leaf shaped blade, mainly used as an auxiliary weapon or quickly striking an enemy from behind.
Animite Gladius: A broad stout sword, carried in a scabbard hanging from the mech's right side, with a blade crafted of animite, often used for thrusting, though it's keen edge and wide blade make it just as suitable for slashing.
Pilum: A long heavy metal spear with a pyramid shaped animite head and a weighted end, designed primarily for throwing rather than stabbing.
Mana Rifle: A simple rifle that loads animite caps (small cylindrical pieces of animite, resembling shotgun shells), which release a burst of mana down the gun's barrel. A small lens is fitted to the end to focus the energy and to prevent it from simply dispersing as it leaves the barrel.
Mana Cannon: A powerful bazooka that fires off animite capsules that explode upon impact with a target, releasing a destructive pulse of mana energy.
Combos-
Chain of command: Rallying with a commanding centurion, the legionnaires pull into formation, thus maximizing their fighting capability. Once in formation, the Legionnaires lay down cover fire for the Centurion as it moves in to attack with it's Gladius. (this would require at least two allied Legionnaires)
Other-
Shield: A Scutum like the Legionnaires, it is one of the key pieces of equipment for surviving the harsh battlefields, especially for those who stand out on the front line like the Centurion.
~~~

IMFC-003 Toxote (Mobile Combat Frame)

Designed for long range combat, the Toxote is lightly armored, allowing it to move from point to point quickly and pick off enemies from a distance. Especially deadly in a group, It bears a similar design to the Legionaire, though is armed with a considerably smaller shield and less decoration to the armored segments. Though it was rolled out fairly late in during the Great War, it still proved highly useful in both as a defensive unit and in an assault force.

Weapons-

Animite Short Sword: A small sword designed more for emergency defense than fighting, due to the Toxotai being more suited to long range combat than direct warfare.

Pistol: A fairly simple pistol that fires off standard rounds, one of the few round firing weapons that exist due to their inefficiency against animite.

Mana Long Rifle: A long barreled mana rifle, perfectly suited for sniping enemies from great distances while the Toxotai remain hidden.

Other-

Light Shield: Much smaller and lighter than the Legionnaire or Centurion's Scutum, the Toxote's pelte still provides suitable defense should it find it's self thrown into close quarters combat.

Snipe (Mana Long Rifle): Toxotai's rifle is outfitted with a sophisticated scope, allowing it to be used with higher accuracy a precision than simply firing it through manual aiming.

Looks good, with only one tiny problem I can see.

Date: Feb. 4, 2008

Weapon/Ability in question: Chain of Command combo

Issues with Weapon/Ability: requires two Centurions to use.

Possible Solution: Reducing the required number of Centurions by 1.

Reasoning for Solution: The Centurion is quite simply a Command Unit, so having two for two Legionnaires seems kinda silly in a way.

Here comes something big... Please don't kill me *hides under a blanket*

Magical Soldier: Michiko

Empire of Guylas: Ready

IMF-003X Kusanagi X (Mana Frame, Mana Anomaly)

The Kusanagi after having undergone a physical evolution under the constant manipulation of it's mana flow by Michiko, causing it to 'mutate', it's body becoming sleeker, and the pins that made up it's hair becoming thinner, more resembling thin needles than the shard like pins. Ontop of the mutations from the altered mana flows, there are some human made additions, such as wings bearing adjustable animite blades, and an enhanced flight system. A final addition was added to prevent the Mana Frame from becoming unstable, as well as amplify the mana manipulation powers of it's pilot. (M-size)

Weapons-

Mana Vulcans: A pair of Vulcans mounted on Kusanagi's shoulders which fire off small animite capsules charged with mana.

Animite Needles: A simple twirling movement that sends a spray of thin needles from the Kusanagi's head out over a wide area.

Animite Needles [Charged]: A spray of needles charged with mana. Able to slip easily through most barries the come up against.

Seraphim Sabers: a pair of mana sabers, powered by animite shards, a pair of tiny angel wing like protrusions acting as hand guards. These are considerably more powerful and have longer blades than the Cherubim Sabers.

Dual-Mana rifle: A production model of the Kusanagi's original weapon, considerably more stable, and have more durable lenses.

Wing Cutter: A slashing attack performed by flying past the enemy at a high speed with the Kusanagi's wing blades turned outward.

Seraphim Sabers [Full Output]: Kusanagi's sabers, using the Anima's powers to bypass the energy limiters, making the weapons even more powerful.

Animite Buster: A massive double bladed sword crafted of animite, about as tall as the mech wielding it.

Wing Cutter [Charged]: A fly by slashing attack, charging the wing blades with mana to increase their destructive force and allowing them to cut clean through almost any barrier standing against them.

Animite Buster [Charged]: Animite buster charged with mana through an Anima's control over the energy. Able to cut through most barriers.

Mana Launcher: A powerful mana gun with a long rectangular barrely, using a multi-setting lens for focused or spread attacks, it's ammo is similar to that of the mana rifle, though the animite caps are considerably larger.

Wing Blades: Eight blades attached to the Kusanagi's wings (Four on either wing) by a length of wires, these wires are long strands of animite and can be used to guide the animite blades through a continious current of mana, this charge also transfers to the blades, allowing them to slice through barriers.

MAP Weapons-

Mana Launcher: A powerful mana gun with a long rectangular barrely, using a multi-setting lens for focused or spread attacks, it's ammo is similar to that of the mana rifle, though the animite caps are considerably larger.

Systems/Internals/Etc.-

Improved Mana Processor & Mana Reactor- The Mana Processor is a device that takes materials, usually animite, and breaks it down, releasing the materials mana and transfering the mana to the reactor, where it is stored and distributed throughout the machine. Due both to mana mutations and human made enhancements, the processor now works much more efficiently, perhaps even too efficiently as the reactor is often unable to contain all the mana being sent into it, creating a radiation that mixes with the units natural one. To counter this, the reactor had to be upgraded to allow it to handle the amount of mana being produced by the processor. (Simply looking for an imrpoved EN supply over the original Kusanagi's)

Improved Mana Boost Drive- Without this component, the unit cannot move without tapping into the pilot's own mana reserves. Simply put, it draws in mana stored in the reactor to allow movement of the unit's body. Due to the mana mutations and human improvements made to it, it has a larger mana capacity, allowing for greater ranges of movement and reduced strain on the reactor. (Looking for a slightly lower Agi. score than the original Kusanagi)

Boost Verniers- While before it's alterations the Kusanagi could only make short distance flights before having to land, due to the extreme strain it's original verniers put on the Mana Boost Drive (which in turn put strain on the reactor). However, with the Boost Verniers, it is now able to fly with minimal strain on it's components. (not looking for much with this aside from F move type.)

X System- A special system implemented into the Kusanagi after evolution. It interfaces with the animite capsule, greatly increasing the pilot's natural mana manipulatian abilities as well as their strength and reflexes. However, this system puts strain on the body, meaning it can't be used at full output for very long.

Other-

Animite Shell- the Kusanagi is coated with a fine layer of Animite, Improving it's armor and reducing damage from most physical attacks.

Crown sensors- the sensors in the Kusanagi's circlet provides a direct link to the pilot's mind displaying a highly detailed view of the surroundings beyond the pilot's range of vision.

Mana Field- An Anima piloting the Kusanagi can charge it's animite shell with mana, creating a barrier that prevents most low level attacks, though doesn't work as well against oncoming mana attacks.

Mana Radiation- The Kusanagi X gives off a natural field of mana radiation. This radiation disrupts any guidance system that may be present on incoming projectiles, making them less effective against this machine.

Mana Distortion Field- A warping effect that occurs around the Kusanagi X when the Anima piloting it redirects the mana flow, creating a false or distorted image, making the Kusanagi harder to hit.

Mana Anomaly- Due to the physical mutations caused by continuous contact with Michiko's powers, the Kusanagi is now able to gradually adapt to situations as it fights, allowing it to become stronger along with it's pilot with each battle, and allowing it to handle pilots with quick reflexes without too much strain. (Perhaps something like the effect of Orbital Frame unit type, or the Fused Organoid System, where it gains bonuses as it gains EVO points)

Weapon/Ability in question: Animite Pins [Charged]

Issues with Weapon/Ability: considerably weaker than uncharged version.

Possible Solution: boost stats accordingly perhaps?

Weapon/Ability in question: Wing Blades

Issues with Weapon/Ability: wrong weapon set-up

Possible Solution: make (X:x) and reduce damage and EN cost accordingly

Weapon/Ability in question: Animite Pins [Charged]

Issues with Weapon/Ability: damage still low

Possible Solution: increase the damage dealt per shot?

Reasoning for Solution: even with the increase to it's number of shots, it's not much stronger than the base unit's Animite Pins [Charged], whereas the uncharged version is still much stronger than the old one's charged version... Which seems kinda... off...

Weapon/Ability in question: Wing Blades

Issues with Weapon/Ability: marked as (B)

Possible Solution: Remove (B) part?

Reasoning for Solution: Mana is used to control the blades, but the blades aren't made of mana

Oops

Aside from that, it looks good *nod*... And thank you for putting up with me.
