Unit Upgrade Rules

  • Unlike other items, which are installed prior to a fight, Upgrades are purchased for a specific unit and are permanently attached to their unit. The bonuses Upgrades give are always applied to the unit's base statistics (before any other modifiers come into play).
  • There are two types of Upgrades. Standard Upgrades are listed with a base price, and can be bought. For every upgrade after the first that is purchased for a unit, the cost for the next upgrade increases by 20% of the base. For example, an HP Upgrade has a base price of 100 Credits. Purchasing and installing one of these upgrades onto a unit costs 100 Credits. Purchasing and installing a second costs 120 Credits (100 Credits + 20%). A third would cost 140 Credits (100 Credits +40%) and so on. Note that the price only increases for multiples of the same chip type. If you bought a HP Upgrade and then bought an EN Upgrade, the EN Upgrade still only costs 100 Credits. A second HP Upgrade or EN Upgrade would then be 120 Credits.
  • The second type of upgrade is known as a Full Upgrade. These chips are more powerful, and are obtained by maxing out the purchasable upgrades of a particular category (Statistics or Weapons). No matter what, only one Statistics Full Upgrade, and one Weapons Full Upgrade may be placed onto a unit.

- Can only be installed on any unit five times

Function:

- Unit gains Damage Received -5%.

- Total Damage reduction may not exceed 75%.

- Can only be installed up to five times on a unit

Class: Standard Upgrade

Base Cost: 100 Credits

Mobility Upgrade

Function:

- Unit gains Dodge Cost -5%.

- This will stack with any items that lower dodge cost.

- Can only be installed up to five times on a unit

Item Statistics:

Type: Statistics Upgrade

Class: Standard Upgrade

Base Cost: 100 Credits

Attack Upgrade

Function:

- Permanently increase all weapon damage by 10%

- Can only be installed up to five times on a unit

Function:

- Permanently increase all weapon accuracy modifiers by 5%

- Can only be installed up to five times on a unit

Function:

- Unit gains Move: F (in addition to any other Move types it had).

- Unit gains Agi -10, Damage Received -10%, Weapon Damage +10%, and ACC +10% while flying in a non-Space terrain.

- If the equipped unit could not be used in Atmosphere before, it now can.

- Can only be installed on a unit once.

Environmental Sensor

Function:

- Remove all terrain restrictions on a unit's weapons.

- Weapons on this unit are not affected by terrain penalties.

- Weapons on this unit bypass all terrain-based positive Damage Reduction or Dodge Cost modifiers on their target.

- Can only be installed on a unit once.

Item Statistics:

Type: Weapons Upgrade

Class: Full Upgrade

Acquisition Method: Install five Attack Upgrade and five Accuracy Upgrade a unit. You may then choose to place this chip on it.

Function:

- All weapons have their EN costs reduced by 20%.

- Can only be installed on a unit once.

Acquisition Method: Install five Attack Upgrade and five Accuracy Upgrade a unit. You may then choose to place this chip on it.

Critical Attack Upgrade

Function:

- Critical cost for all pilots in a unit this chip is installed on is reduced by 2.

- Gain an additional Weapon Damage +10% and Accuracy +10% during attack phases affected by Critical in this unit.

- Can only be installed on a unit once.
