July 4th, 2043 - Los Angeles Military Base (Strike Force)

It has only been a year since the Reapers first came in our world, but in that one year they have caused so much damage. As your driver takes you towards the temporary military base that lies on the ruins of LAX, you can see the destruction that these monsters have wrought on the city. Buildings lie wrecked, their empty shells resting like giant stone and metal corpses. Destroyed robots and other military vehicles rest amongst the buildings, their electronics fried and having no use beyond scrap. The driver says nothing as he makes another turn and the Strike Force Base begins to loom ahead. It isn't a very pretty sight at first glance. Dirty, small, and certainly not someplace you would think could ever house the various pilots and support crew for one of the most advanced military team in the history. You pass the fallen pillars and broken up name of LAX as the driver pulls into one of the terminals that wasn't damaged beyond repair. He presses a button and your door unlocks.

He looks through the window straight at you, his blue eyes seemingly piercing into your very soul. With a slight tilt of his hat, he simply says, "The best of luck to you."

You are left in front of the terminal and immediately two armed soldiers guide you towards the main heart of the base. They are a little more vocal than your driver, talking amongst themselves about the operation that was designed to push the Reapers off the face of the planet. A multi-part operation with the Strike Force at the head, all of the world's military will make a furious counterattack. It is a daring plan, one that not many people are certain will work. However, their chances are good and lately they've been having much more success in the field and with much less casualties.

You are guided into a meeting room and left alone. All around you are unfamiliar faces and people. Perhaps you've fought alongside them or perhaps you've fought against them. It isn't really easy to tell, but past rivalries and hatred must be tossed aside for the future survival of humanity. Two people seem to be at the head of the room, one of them standing behind a podium that has the Strike Force emblem proudly emblazoned on the wood. He raises his hands and clears his throat for your attention.

"I'm sure you already know why you're here, because if you don't, you shouldn't be here." He said, a slight smile tugging at his lips. "I am Noal Caswell, the base commander here and your immediate superior. Don't worry about your vehicles and mecha. We've already transported them to the underground hangar so that they would be safe from any Reaper attacks. After our introduction, we'll guide you down there so you can check on the state of your machines."

He pauses to take a breath, adjusting the collar of his beige uniform. "As for that...my introduction is over. You're here for a reason. You all are the best fighters that we could muster and we expect success to come from each and every one of you. We will not accept or tolerate incompetence and failure. You've already been briefed on our mission, there is nothing else to say. May victory guide our path."

"You're so stuffy." The young girl at Noah Caswell's side snickers, covering her mouth. She gives you all a wave, a shining smile on her face. "I'm Erina Hallman, your battleship pilot! Unfortunately, the Spectre II is undergoing repairs at the moment, so we'll be deploying from the Los Angeles Base for several weeks while repairs finish! Thanks for your patience!"

"Yes, yes." Noah says, placing a hand on the blue and white bandanna Erina wears. "Take some time to talk amongst each other. These will be your allies and friends in the upcoming fight and I expect teamwork. Without it, this fight is as good as lost."

July 4th, 2043 - Los Angeles Military Base (Strike Force)

Alex in the drive in felt a little pain. He fought here. He had buddies die here. He flinched when he passed by the wreckage, recognizing the insignia and colors of another squadron in his wing. It was Independence Day. But it had been years since he even thought of celebrating the long running American holiday. There was a war to fight. Kathleen sat next to him, lightly sleeping. It had been...a day since the night at the officer's barracks. And it was somewhat...amusing to say the least. As the two of them were escorted to the meeting chambers, they kept a quiet, stoic expression on. The laughter and love that happened last night would not. Should not interfere with their task. Even as much as Alex would just like to slack off now. To try and break the tense atmosphere. They were all rookies in the grand scheme of things. Many here he recognized as colleagues, allies from NATO. And enemies. Oh God will he need to get used to that. So much pain had happened. But in the face of the greater threat, when even the Israelis and Iranians signed on a truce and joined the world effort to fight the invaders.

"Seems like everyone is here. Or at least on their way." Kathleeen said, whispering to Alex as their commander made a short and cold speech. As expected of a great leader. Alex yawned instinctively. He'd enjoy the meeting more if there was something cool and refreshing being served. Kathleen jabbed him in the ribs for the yawn, her pink hair, already out of regs, shifted slightly to show her piercing glare.

"What?"

"Stop acting like a total goofball."

"I am le tired..."

"Last night couldn't have been that taxing for you you dog."

"Maybe." He replied. Which earned him another jab, but also a blush from the girl. Alex sighed and got up, walked around, Kathleen following suit. As he got near their battleship captain, he smiled.

"Hello there, Captain Alex Malone of the United States Marine Corps. This is my rear-seater." He said, motioning to Kathleen.

"First Lieutenant Kathleen Halsey, same service, at your service ma'am."

Nice way to at least try to break the ice.

"In Russia, we have saying..." one of the other women started "Это целый набор русских слов которые не значит что перевод говорит она означает"

She gave an impish smile, and resumed speaking in rather accented English.

"Or as you Amerikanski say, 'Top rule of fighting is bring many guns, and bring all friends with guns, give enemy someone else to shoot at', da?"

The blonde gave a simple handwave, and a curt nod directed towards everyone else in the room.

"Zdravstvujte, am Starshiy Leytenant Maria Vasylievna Tsvetaeva, Voenno-Vozdushnye Sily." she introduced herself.

Eliza wasn't stupid, she noticed the stares and heard the whispers. Sure, young ace pilots have been popping out of the Void and being raised all over the place, but apparently someone as tiny as the 4'8" sniper was plenty unusual enough to be gossip'd about. It took three times checking her ID for the people that brought her to the place to be satisfied that they had the right person, much to her embarassment.

Now that the mini-speech had ended, Eliza found stares turning right towards her again. Inwardly, the girl wished she had found some high-heeled boots or something . . . To try and get her mind off of it, she just threw herself into the conversations.

"Ahem . . My name is Eliza Terra, Valkyrie Test Pilot. I uh . . don't think I have a RANK rank yet. Still, pleased to meet you all, and I hope we work together well."

The diminutive strawberry-blond girl, clad in a big and comfy looking coat that seemed a few sizes too big for her, smiled nervously and nodded to a few of the people. Wait . . was that a stuff bunny converted to a backpack on her back . .?

"Ah, Russian?" Eliza turned to Maria. "My mother is from Russia. Err . . well . . not this Russia. A different one, since I got here via Void. I didn't get a chance to learn the language from her, but she told me that parts of the country are quite beautiful." Hurray smalltalk attempts!

A cheerfully smiling girl greeted the group eagerly.

"Hello everyone! My name is Iris Sophia and I'll be supporting you all in the upcoming combats! I don't think I have a rank here and my old rank hardly matters, so just call me by my given name. I'd also like to say that I agree very strongly with Maria's motto, and hope you'll all be my friends. With guns."

The emotionless seeming girl beside her spoke up in an overly calm voice.

"I am Selene Sophia. I have no unit at the moment, so I will not be fighting."

Iris spoke up determinedly. "That's right! My sister here needs to rest and recover after her ordeals, so she can't fight! I'll have to fight in her place. Please accept my assistance gratefully."

A lone man walked around the meeting room looking around aimless. He was not sure what happen in this place before, but he's feel a little sadness. That man mind was filled with thoughts of sorrow, why must people die? Why must this place get destroyed? He keep thinking about it until suddenly someone call his name.

"Dio!! This way!!" Dio quickly turn to where that voice came and see a group of people gather there, He immediately recognized the woman he was looking for. Dio then greet the group eagerly.

"A very...eccentric crew we have here." Noah said to himself, nodding as he watched the pilots talk amongst each other and introduce themselves. It was a good thing all of them knew English, but then again that was one of the requirements for joining Strike Force in the first place. He took out a cell phone out of his back pocket, letting out a soft hmmm when he saw what time it was. Turning to Erina, he gave her a nod. "I have to greet our other guests and make sure they get settled down. Keep our pilots and guests entertained, okay?"

He quickly disappeared from the room, seemingly vanishing from sight. Erina just sighed and scratched her head, wondering what exactly she could do for entertainment. She was still pondering what to do when two of the mecha pilots...well, more like one and his...girlfriend assistant? She blinked at their introduction, a little caught off-guard, but quickly recovered. "Erina Hallman, battleship pilot and sometimes cook. Nice to meet you, but lay off all the formalities. I came from a very informal place so...being called ma'am makes me nervous."

She grinned. "Here's to hoping that we all work together well and wipe out the rest of those damn Reapers, huh?"

The guy left, leaving the girl alone to do the work. Was it one of those kidns of units? When the girl introduced herself and said to cut the formalities, he visibly relaxed.

"Heh, just call me Alex then. Kat over here is' been jabbing me in the ribs to be all formal and all th- ow!" Alex said, as Katerine jabbed him again. He stared at here intently with a serious face for a second before smiling and then pinching her cheeks. "Why're you so much of a heardheaded girl?" He said, with no malice or anything, Katerine raising her hands slightly and saying some verbal tic popularized by some Japanese anime character that was a fox turned into a girl.

"Auuu~" Katerine said, unable to say anything and dribble started to come from her mouth, before her eyes narrowed.

"Oh crap."

In a second, the two were on the ground, fighting to gain control, with Alex calling her to stop and be more dignified and with Katerine calling him out for being such an idiot. They would continue on this way until Alex had her pinned on the ground with her arms behind her back. "Alex! You better let go of me!"

"Why? So you can renew this? I just want to relax a bit."

"Still...but...oh fine." The girl said. Alex let her go and both got back up, the girl slightly embarrassed at her display, the guy shrugging his shoulders and smiling at the Russian woman.

"Yes, always good to bring more guns and more friends...you are...a recon pilot, right?" He said, a little reserved. He remembered that day, where the recon birds gave them hell, he felt a little conflicted...but decided.

"Past is past, new enemies we need to deal with. You or your countrymen shot down my friends, me and mine did to yours, but..peace for both our nations against the Reapers." He said extending his hand. Doesn't matter if she was or wasn't. It was best he let the war go, and shook hands with someone who was once the enemy.

Iris wandered over, smiling.

"That's right. What people did in the past doesn't matter here. Old grudges just aren't important here."

After all, her relationship with the Earth of her world hadn't been exactly pleasant. It's good to know that similar wouldn't happen here..

"Man, it's so boring here. I hope not all of our briefings go this slow or fighting the Reapers is going to be a boring pain in the ass." Erina muttered to herself as she watched the pilots, most of them milling towards the Russian woman and engaging her in conversation. She shrugged and leaned against the wall, watching them. It made sense, at least. These were all strangers so of course first meetings would be awkward for them to go through. She twirled her braid around a finger, humming to herself as she waited for Noah to come back. 'Wonder what kind of business he had to go do...'

The man in questioned entered escorting...what appeared to be a military recon drone? Erina blinked a bit and nodded her head to the floating device, wondering what exactly it was for. Noah walked up to her, escorting the drone. He patted the machine on the head and smirked at Erina's expression of surprise. "This is Vedal...or more appropriately, his probe unit. You know, one of those tall humanoid thinking robots? He signed up for Strike Force, but he's so damn big that he can't really fit inside anywhere besides the hangar. So we got this little thing right here to sub in for him. I had to go check to see if he was all set inside the hangar first."

"Oh. Well...uh, nice to meet you, Vedal." Erina said nervously, giving the probe's camera a short wave. "I'm the battleship captain, Erina Hallman. Here's to hoping we work well together, okay?"

"Now, now, don't be nervous. Vedal's a nice...what was your race called? Meganites? That's it." Noah nodded and save the probe a gentle shove towards the other pilots. "Now introduce yourself. I bet none of them have seen anyone like you, that's for sure."

The probe gently bobbles up and down as it is patted, a pair of camera lenses in the approximation of eyes rotating into focus on Erina as she waves. Following Noah's shove the probe scoots forward, wobbling slightly side to side as it does.

"Greetings everyone. A pleasure to meet/work with you," the probe intones, it's voice sounding similar to what one would imagine Microsoft Sam would sound if speaking over a supermarket intercom. It then rotates to face Noah, "I wish request that you do not pat/push my probe unit as it is not does not automatically compensate for outside forces acting on it. It requires much more focus/effort to keep it stable than my actual body."

The probe then began slowly scanning the room and people assembled as Vedal tries his best to size up the people he would be working with. This proves to be quite a difficult task, due to the fact that he hasn't had much experience with humans beyond what he had seen in movies, read in books, and encountered during his detainment. After thinking for a moment, he decides that there are definitely 3 males and 6 females in the room. Furthermore, all of them seem to be somewhere around 20 years of age (probably) except for one girl who appears to be approximately 11 years old. Vedal briefly puzzles over why a young child (he's fairly certain that 11 is very young for humans) would be here before coming to the conclusion that either a) she was the child of someone working here and was brought by a parent for some reason, b) the situation on this world is desperate enough to justify the use of child soldiers, or c) she is some kind of child savant with skills useful to the operation. He briefly continues to stare at Eliza trying to decide how he should react to her presence before he turns away, deciding there was no more he could determine at this time; why she was here was probably already addressed before his probe arrived.

(OOC: Edited my character profile changing the probe's appearance to help line up more with what one conventionally thinks of a probe looking like for the sake of convenience. The description is also more detailed now (in that it actually has one at all =P))

". . . Is that a robot?"

Eliza was promptly the thoroughly distracted from talking to the others by this INTERESTING newcomer. She practically scampered over to the metal probe, looking at it with a 'hmm' and a 'huh'. "So you're an AI right? An Artificial Intelligence? One of the Aces from my world flew together with a couple of AI-controlled Valkyries for partners. They helped save us from some trouble . . . Nice to meet you, Vedal was it?"

Eliza extended her hand for about a second before retracting it with an "Oh, right." She seemed a might sheepish about that, but smiled regardless. Apparently Eliza wasn't one of the people that was immediately suspicious of nonhumans.

"Man, all we need is a Zentraedi and we'd be set."

I know a lot of you are waiting on OCD and that there are things like posting order, but just know that I won't be posting every round and if no one else posts within a day, you are now free to skip them. I mean seriously, it should not take this long for only two posts :|)

Selene paused, her expression not changing. "I am not familiar with the 'Zentraedi' you speak of. What are they?"

Iris seemed to have an answer immediately. "They're some sort of aliens, right? Or robots. Or robot aliens! What do they look like?"

Eliza gave a bit of a grin, and raised a finger. "Zentraedi are indeed aliens. Originally, they invaded our world while trying to recover a giant spaceship we retrofitted and repaired called the Macross. Long story short, they were totally warlike and had no culture at the time, so we convinced a good amount of them to join us by teaching them about things like song and kisses and such. An idol helped save the world! Eventually they joined with us as we explored the galaxy."

She paused as if realizing she had gotten off track, before continuing. "Oh, more importantly, what Zentraedi look like. Think us. Now make them METERS bigger. They're about as big as a Valkyrie in battloid mode. Though, they have a technology that shrinks them down to our size."

Dio can only silent after hearing the other explanation. There is sure many kind of people out here. After all we already had a cyborg on our army and there is possibility that we will meet a Zentraedi out there.

"The world is sure big... We already had cyborg on our side and you say there is a Giant out there?" Dio sigh.

"But wait... You say they had technology that can make them shrinks into our size?" This time Dio's talk with little surprise.

Vedal floated quietly, not knowing how to respond to Elize's mention of her past experiences with sentient mechanical lifeforms. While he had realized that people from many different worlds were living here, Vedal had not seriously considered that any humans he would actually be working with would be from worlds where at least some form of sentient machines existed. He continued to silently hover during Elize's description of the Zentraedi race and how they were won over by human culture. While her description was likely a childish oversimplification of the actual events (the idea of a "cultureless" organic species developing seemed ridiculous) the idea of a race with minimal cultural development assimilating with human culture was quite fascinating. The shrinking device mentioned was equally fascinating, though it seemed technologically impossible to Vedal. On the other hand, he thought to himself, who knows what strange technology might be born of minor deviations that exist in the laws of physics between different universes?

At Dio's question, Vedal finally began to speak once again, "It is not especially surprising that a technology/methodology would be developed in order to allow the larger "Zentraedi" species to interact with humans. It is very hard to coexist when you cannot fit through doors."

Alex and Kathleen had gone around talking to other members. It was awhile until they joined up with the rest. They met some old friends. made peace with old enemies. Or tried to. There were some surly people. In all, they both tried to not act like the cute couple but a professional team. Something broken when they had practically wrestled on the floor earlier.

The girl nodded to the robot. "Yeah. And it made procreation a hell of a lot simpler. I don't know what the numbers are like, but if I had to hazard a guess . . I'd say at least 5% of people in my world are partially Zentraedi."

Eliza seemed pensive for a moment, before shaking her head. "But anyways, I don't suppose there is a chance of getting to see everyone's vehicles any time soon? I've been QUITE interested in some of the technology everyone has that differs from the tech we had back home."
