Alterative VI: Operation Tsukuyomi

Since the human victory at the Original Hive, mankind has steadily begun to eradicate the BETA from the Earth, destroying hives before they could reach Phase 6 status like the one at Kashgar. It was a long and hard fight, but after about three years, they've managed to rid almost all of them.

... On Earth, that is.

There are still BETA that exist elsewhere. The very first BETA that mankind came into contact with - the ones on the Moon. Before they can feel any safer, mankind must defeat the ones on the moon.

It won't be easy though - Operation Ouka didn't have any survivors save one (supposedly, anyway - all info on that was kept completely secret even seven years after its completion), and the human population still needs time to recover. Soldiers won't be able to fly to space that easily either - they were more used to earth based battles, after all. Fighting in space was another matter altogether.

It was at that point that the head of the Alternative Project, Dr. Kouzuki Yuuko, managed to get in contact with some people who could help, and now, they stand poised to strike BETA in the next frontier - space.

They sent their best veteran - "best" being relative in this case - Kasumi Yashiro, a sixth generation esper, to assist in this ambitious operation. But it seems that others are hiding somewhere too, and that there's more to this operation than meets the eye...

Description: Since you're pretty much entering a BETA Hive, a whole lot of them will randomly show up, trying to stop you from getting to your location.

Effect:

- Crossfire: Every 5th turn, all allied players get attacked by [+] Occular Laser (B)- 3000 damage [+10%]. This is considered to be coming from a size M unit. This does not affect enemy units.

Whether or not this unit actually gets used depends on how many eroges you've played/how you talk to girls/your RPing skills. You can also assume that your pilots are from a parallel dimension, since, well, that's kind of the point of the whole plot of Muv Luv Alt to begin with.

Background: One of the younger members of the team. Yuki is the engineer of the team who has the role of taking care of the mecha units that her team members take out to battle. While she is committed to non-violence, she is by no means a coward. She will gladly take a mecha unit herself onto the battlefield to do repairing and resupplying on the battlefield. Yuki does get a little frustrated at her teammate's tendencies to go home with rather broken mecha units though.

- Rather sensitive about having to restore broken units to full condition. Usually she vents out her anger by just throwing a megaton punch at them. Kira's telekinesis and Roy's stoicism does not provide any protection against this. Shiro's advances will also warrant this.

- Committed to her duty, she will never refuse to repair the units that her teammates broken. Rather interestingly, she stated that "I'm doing this just because it is my duty to do so, not because it is a special favour for you or anything..."

- She acts quite warmly to other people besides her team.

The mobile fortress Kastell Zafira XG-70H Susanoo Hachigata and its complement of 9 units were making a rendezvous with another mobile destroyer - one Super Dimensional Fortress called the SDF-1 Macross, the same one that was reported to have assisted in the attack on the Original Hive seven years ago. Wasting no time, both ships docked with the fortress, allowing all of your crew and your units to enter and meet up with the head of this mission - Professor Kouzuki Yuuko.

You're met with a strange sight - in this world where people used Tactical Surface Machines not really suited for space, you see a horned one that... seems quite suited for it, actually, getting ready to be serviced in the back. There are also quite a few others in the hangar as well - a Gundam-like unit with a big sword, another white unit with a large gun, a mechanoid with what appears to be a white barrier jacket (?) and a weird staff, and finally a grey humanoid unit with what appears to be a giant sniper rifle.

"Ah, thank you for coming, everyone. As promised, the rest of the mission details will be made clearer as we go. And uh... welcome back, I guess, Captain Isumi? Good to see that the news of your death have been highly exaggerated. Though to be fair... I imagine that the news of theirs are the same as well," she chuckled, motioning her head to the five pilots waiting behind her.

"First things first though - while we have acquired some battle-ready units, I'd like to see if yours are any better. I did ask you guys to bring some if you had any that might possibly come in handy, after all," Yuuko chuckled. "Well, Isumi, Munakata, I'm sure you already know who they are, but for the sake of everyone else, I should introduce them. Sakaki!"

"Yes ma'am!" the pilot with glasses said as she assembled the rest of her unit in front of yours.

... If they were completely surprised at Isumi's presence, they certainly didn't show it.

"The one on the left is 2nd Lt. Sakaki Chizuru, current Squad Leader of Isumi's Valkyries. She's piloting the white Weibritter over there. Next to her is their second in comand and Storm Vanguard, 2nd Lt. Mitsurugi Meiya, the one using the Sword Strike Gundam. Next is their Blast Guard 2nd Lt. Yoroi Mikoto, using the pink Fei-Yen. Next is 2nd Lt. Tamase Miki, Gun Interceptor and sniper of the team, using the M9 Gernsback. Last but not least is our Strike Vanguard, 2nd Lt. Ayamine Kei, using the Alteisen.

"I want you guys to discuss things with them regarding their units and whether or not they are viable choices for this mission. More specific details about this mission will be given, but the basic gist is that this is standard Hive Infiltration with the idea of escorting a Susanoo-type unit... except the unit you'll be escorting will be something else we've managed to acquire."

The girl in the plugsuit looked at Isumi with a somewhat surprised look on her face before Yuuko motioned for her to follow. "We need to do some last minute adjustments to the unit, so please, begin the planning while we do so. The specifics of the mission will be related once we know who is using what."

With that, Yuuko and the little girl left. That pretty much leaves the rest of Isumi's Valkyries with you.

Even as all the commotion was happening, the speakers suddenly turned on in the hangar.

The XO left at that point with Kasumi. As usual, it was hard deciding what was on her head. But it didn't matter. Right now there was a briefing to do.

It took several arrangements, but these are the most effective we could find within the given constraints, and are more powerful than your current units. The other units and their pilots are additional assets secured for the mission, and will assist much like Operation Ouka.」

【Capt. Isumi】「The units have all been refitted with the XM3 so there should be no trouble adapting. Your data has already been downloaded and adjusted into them. The units were chosen with your data in mind, so you should find them easy to deal with. 1st Lieutenant Suzumiya will explain the units technical data.」

【1st Lt. Suzumiya】「Of course. 2nd Lt. Mitsurugi has been assigned to the GN-001 Gundam Exia over there. It's a high-speed close combat unit with performance that exceeds even the Type-00R and the American Raptor. It's primary weapons are an array of different 7 swords. The use of a new engine called GN Drive provides it with more power than any current TSF, and it's primary blades are rated to pierce through reinforced armor. Please skim the manual as we wait. However, it should be little different in handling from the Shiranui or Takemikazuchi aside from the far superior spec.」

【1st Lt. Suzumiya】「Next, 2nd Lt. Tamase has been assigned the FFR-31MR/D, as she is already familiar with it's use. Likewise, 2nd Lt. Sakaki has been assigned the VFF-41 Mave for much the same reasons. Both craft have been pre-loaded with a loadout of S-11 missiles.」

【Capt. Isumi】「It shouldn't be too difficult for you to command addition drones in addition to the squad afterall. If you can't do that after all this time I'll send you back to repeat basic training. Continue, Lieutenant.」

【1st Lt. Suzumiya】「Yes. 2nd Lt. Yoroi has been assigned the third Fighter, the YF-29 Hayate. It's a stealth combat craft optimised for skirmishing and ranged combat, and it was deemed most suitable for your use. The final unit, OSMF49 Varian, is most suitable for 2nd Lt. Ayamine's use, being more balanced than the others and suitable for Strike Vanguard missions.」

【Capt. Isumi】「The final unit, Tallgeese, was selected for 2nd Lieutenant Suzumiya's position as a Gunsweeper, but as she is unavailable to use it, the unit will be left behind during the mission. Furthermore, because we do not have as much data on the Lunar hives, a large number of S-11s was prepared for the mission for use by almost all our Tactical Fighters. I'll be expecting everyone to be able to cope with large volleys of S-11s being used by now and avoid crippling their own or allied machines with them.」

【1st Lt. Suzumiya】「I will be coordinating the efforts of all units during the mission from the forward command post, as before, and helping relay data as it's analysed. I have a direct link to the Captain's unit, at all times in place of her unit's nominal Yukikaze AI system, so I will be able to continue monitoring the situation. As before, I will be using the callsign Valkyrie Mum.」

【Capt. Isumi】「Due to the circumstances, 2nd Lt. Sakaki will remain in command of A-01, while I will be the field commander for the allied troops supporting the mission. Sakaki, that means you get to use the Valkyrie One callsign for awhile longer.」

"Huh...so this is what it's like. Pretty cool, I guess...in a really weird and kind of depressing way." Terence muttered to himself as he looked around the hangar bay of the XG-70H Susanoo Hachigata, scratching the back of his head. The people looked similar, at least...well, some of them did. Kimberly had made sure to have pictures and stuff to show them when she had returned from Operation Ouka so he recognized most of them. He definitely recognized Ayamine Kei since Kimberly had described her as, "Yeah, I gave her some of my music and she seemed to like it, so she's the coolest out of all of them, full stop. What? Battle ability? I was kind of busy trying not to fucking die out there, so why don't you go ask her yourself?"

"A...Ah...um...so what exactly are we um...going to be doing now, then?" The soft, timid voice of his partner came from behind him and Terence turned to see the newest member of S.T-F.U walk up, her hands clutched in front of her chest. She looked scared of the new surroundings (although Terence didn't remember a time where she didn't look scared) and if she had a choice, she'd run all the way back to her quarters at the base and never come out. Eliana Schwartz was supposed to be an Evangelion pilot, but so far she hadn't participated in any real battles so it was kind of hard to assign her in the squad. Terence guessed that she had been sent here just to get some more experience, even if it was just "Watch much better pilots that you kill monsters."

"I...don't know, to be honest." Terence said with a sigh, looking at the scene where one of the other pilots recruited for this mission (one who apparently had a connection with the people they were helping) began assigning units to all of their allies. "Kim told me that last time we were supposed to convince them that our backup units were better than theirs, but since this chick is like...doing it for us, there's not really much left for us to do, is there?"

"S-So um...c-can we just um...go then?" Eliana stammered, clutching onto the side of Terence's shirt. "T...There's really a l-lot of people around and i-if there's no point in us being here since w-we aren't fighting yet then um...I...um...don't want to be here."

Terence sighed again and just gave her a pat on the head. "All right. I should stick around to be social, I guess. I am our representative and I think Kim did a good job with our reputation, so it might not be bad to see how things are still going. You can stay inside the Alphard and talk with the people back home if you want."

Eliana quickly gave a nod and ran off.

"Oh boy...watching over her is not going to be fun at all." Terence said to himself as he watched her run off. "Still, I guess she should be fine."

He walked over to where the girls were gathered, giving them a wave as way of greeting. "Yo. I'm Terence Sharpton from Stayre Tri-Form Unified. I'll be piloting the OSMF42 Alphard, the brother unit to the Varian, so I hope we'll all work together. I guess I was supposed to tell you exactly why you should pilot the Varian instead of the unit you already have lined up, but..." He pointed a thumb towards Suzumiya, "she already did my job so...whatever."

"Anyway." He clapped his hands and smiled. "We'll be able to handle anything these BETA can throw at us, so there shouldn't be any problems at all. If you've got questions for me, feel free to ask, although I guess she," Thumb at Suzumiya again, "can answer all the technical ones."

A girl with pink hair and an oddly styled dress walked stepped up next, following Terence's example. "Hello everyone, I am Estellise Sidos Heaurassein but you can call me Estelle. I will be serving as your medic for this mission so please do not hesitate to let me know if anything is wrong." she said with a smile. She backed up to let the next person introduce themself.

"Well then, I guess I'll haul this one back to the base." A deep male voice announced from behind her. Appearing from the back in the room, he seemed to have almost blended into the shadows of the Tallgeese Zero in his black clothing. He jerked a thumb at the mobile suit as he stepped out of the its shadow, "There's no point in leaving it here."

"Just wishing you luck on your first important mission."

"Ooooh, a whole lot of bishoujos around, eh~?" The first of the Hana club crew to step out of the Susanoo Hachigata is Kasumi Kinbato. Tall and flat, it may appear to everyone at first glance that it is indeed a male instead, until the voice of the girl registers in their mind. Unlike some other people there, it seems that she is more there to visit and have fun than anything else, which is rather unfitting for the situation that they are in.

"You're right! It'd be sooo much fun to assau- I mean, work with them today." Following her, a girl with glasses and long green hair steps out from the hangar. "I have my eyes on a few of them already~"

[coior=crimson]"YOU BOTH!!"[/color] Immediately following the two's conversation with a giant bokken whack on each of the brain is famous Oni-Buchou of the Hana Club, Akabara Misaki. "Take this seriously! We are here to help out, not to visit! Get your asses to duty right after we are done with self introduction!!"

Following right after her is yet another two members of the Hana club. One of them is a rather plain looking girl, where another is also rather plain looking… if you disregard the eye-patch on one of her eyes.

"Geez, these people can never take a job and a mission seriously…" The elder-looking one comments, as she ruffles her hair coming outside of the hangar.

"Really? I think it's good to be energetic, especially in this kind of situation." The girl next to her grins softly, and comments.

"Ahem." The third girl out of the hangar clears her throat, and tries to catch the attention from all of the people present there for a self introduction.

"My name is Akabara Misaki, the commander of Susanoo Hachigata this time, though this ship is actually lent from Captain Isumi over there, really." The group leader of Hana Club for this leader presents their battleship, as well as its crew member. "Let me take the liberty to also introduce all of my crew members.

Kinbato Kasumi. She is the controller of the maneuver of the ship today.

Rokujou Kirie, our cannoner in combat. She is, believe it or not, the person with the keenest eyesight among all of us.

Kuzunoha Nagi, co-coordinator of the defensive system of Susanoo Hachigata, also the intercom communicator of the ship this time.

And last but not list, Shindou Chihiro, data analyst and intercom communicator of the fight."

After each of the people bowed accordingly to the crowd, Misaki clears her throat again, and mentions the unit that they have brought with them.

"As you may have already heard from Captain Isumi, we have brought Mave for your convenience of piloting, as well as its powerful loadout of S-11 missiles. About this, I would also like to add a point, that the AI system in our Mave Yukikaze, Sylva, has also accumulated experience over approximately 30 battles, big and small, against all different sort of enemies, including BETA. Its preference has also been set to be able to survive on its own while coordinate team fights, allowing a maximum capacity of flexibility in strategy execution. In addition, this unit has been programmed to be able to pilot itself if given that the pilot is out of action due to injury, maximizing the chances of the pilot and itself's survival rate. I will highly recommend using our Mave if you are absolutely certain to destroy the Original Hive no matter the cost."

A dark-skinned Kurdish man stepped out of the Susanoo Hachigata and observed the current area. He then walked over to the group that came to greet them and began to speak.

"I am Setsuna F. Seiei the operative of the organisation called Celestial Being. Our goal is the eradication of war. We have deemed these aliens classified as BETA a source of war and have assigned me the mission of assisting in your assault. I have also been ordered to lend my personal Gundam in this mission. It would seem that I have no need to explain its capabilities.

Setsuna walked over to 2nd Lt. Mitsurugi.

"..."

Even though he said nothing his eyed conveyed a simple message.

"I trust you with my Gundam. Use it well for it will help you to survive."

The last of the people to step out of the Susanoo Hachigata was a blue-haired young boy with headphones, along him a shorter girl with a beret. "Hee, I would be willing to bet that Shirou would be drolling all over himself to the sight of these crew.", the blue haired boy sarcastically remarked as he flipped his bangs to get a better view of the surroundings. The one who just said that was the first member of his group, First Lieutenant Kira Hiroyuki. "It's not like you're any better than him, Kira,", the girl with the beret remarked back to Kira. That was Kira's group's finance manager and head engineer, Warrant Officer Yuki Aizawa. "Hey, at least I do not talk to every girl in a way that makes it seem like I want to grope them, both busty and flat.". Hearing this, Yuki shudders but then calmed down, "Let's not talk about that shall we? Brings back bad memories." From her last statement, Kira could see that something...rather embarrassing happened with regards to that in the past. As much as he would like to mind-read her, he could not bring himself to do it. Sighing, Kira then pondered that..is that incident really more traumatic that what was possibly going to come?

As such, Kira then remembered last time, how he had applied to join the preceding Operation before this Operation Tsukuyomi, but for some reason or another, he was denied, perhaps it was his luck or whether it was his relative inexperience at that time, he would not know.

Following the pattern of the other groups, Kira and Yuki then would approach the pilots, who had then been introduced to them. Since it was only courteous to introduce themselves, Kira started off. "Greetings, I would go by the name of Kira Hiroyuki, and I am a First Lieutenant. As such, I am one of those espers existing in this world. And beside me here is Yuki Aizawa, she will serve as co-pilot and also do some monitoring with the EWAC." As this was said, Yuki then stepped forward and bowed down. "My name is Yuki Aizawa, nice meeting you all."

Continuing, well, I was supposed to explain as to why the unit I had brought here," he pointed to the Hayate, , would be suitable, but eh, Lieutenant Suzumiya had already explained that to you...and oh, yes it does transform," said Kira, responding to one of the girls' question. "Then again, it would never hurt to explain, as such this YF-29 Hayate is one of the most agile and fastest mechs that exists. And, before you start wondering if you are going to die if you slip even once, no, you will not, the YF-29 Hayate is equipped with a Pinpoint Barrier which can absorb some punishment just in case you make mistake. And, like as it was mentioned, it is equipped with a full payload of S-11 Missiles, which we all know, is deadly efficient against the large swarms of BETA we are going to fight, so I do really recommend that you people use this YF-29 Hayate to have a better chance of fighting the BETA, and not just survive, but also win."

"Anyway, if any of you have questions to ask of us, you can ask either me or Yuki here, we'll be open to answer your questions as best as we can."

"Well Captain, if your story involves some girl in black eight note ribbons, I... think I get it," Chizuru said with a weird look on her face. "Anyway, ma'am, I'm honored that you would let me continue leading your unit! And yes, we have used those... variable fighters before. They're surprisingly agile for something that's supposed to be easily shot down above NOE flight. I haven't used it myself, but I'm sure Tamase and Yoroi would be able to use them to great effect like the last time."

She then turned to Misaki. "Akabara-san, right? I'm honored to be able to use your Mave. I'll make sure to keep it intact. I look forward to you and your crew's support."

"... Captain, if I may. It looks like a very agile machine, but it also seems that I can't properly support defend anyone with it, not without extra armor, anyway. I would like to replace the Dual Sensors with some of the Layered Armor already installed on the Alteisen for extra protection."

"I'm... also inclined to agree, ma'am," Chizuru said. "Given her performance last time in Operation Ouka, she performs best using a unit that can take more punishment than a regular TSF. That was why she was assigned the Alteisen in the first place - it's a strong and heavily armored unit designed to take damage better from beam weapons than anything else we have right now. And while the squad by itself is already accustomed to teamwork by ourselves, Kei might need to support defend someone else."

"Ah ha...I suppose that's a good point. There's not much use in assigning a unit outfitted for evasive maneuvers for someone intended to support defend other units in the squad, is there?" Terence said thoughtfully as he looked at Kei. "All right, that's not a problem. We've got some time before the mission starts, so making adjustments won't be a problem at all. I can understand your concerns about the defensibility of the unit, but let me assure you that the Varian can fit your needs without a problem."

"Switching out the Dual Tesla Drives for additional armor, whether it simply be layered plates or something more advanced won't be a problem. You have my guarantee on that. We have a specialized type of armor...the Chogokin Z, which should make it about as good as the Alteisen when it comes to defensive ability. Unfortunately we can't do much better than that as...well, stacking even more armored plates on that would just be silly...although I certainly didn't think it was silly when I suggested it." He cleared his throat.

"But not only that, the Varian has a much better barrier than the Alteisen. While the Alteisen's coating only works on long-ranged beam type attacks, the Varian's barrier will be useful again all incoming attacks, allowing you to defend people from even more attacks without suffering nearly as much damage. That should be a nice bonus, shouldn't it?" He said with a grin. "Besides, it ain't so bad to have defensive things when you're also being attacked along with your allies so think of the evasive systems and abilities in it as a sort of side bonus to your main objective, eh?"

"But that's not all!" Terence said, suddenly giving a flourish as he pointed to the Varian. "The pinnacle of Stayre Tri-Form Unified engineering brings you this miracle...something that can't be found within your Alteisen, at least. With the power of science, technology, and courage, our custom Varian is equipped with a complete surround sound system and the ability to play over five million songs, all arranged in a helpful playlist that will automatically adjust to your needs. Hell, you won't even need to talk! It can just sense what you want and it'll work out. And when orders come in, it'll automatically mute itself so you can actually hear what you're being told. I'm....not really sure how it works myself."

He chuckled and shrugged. "Well okay, that's probably not a selling point. Well...besides the fact that space is really boring and nice music can always liven it up. Nah, someone from uh...Operation Ouka, was it? She said that we should put that in there because she had more music to share with you, Kei. ...Way too much, if you ask me."

【Capt. Isumi】「...It somewhat did, yes. Also, the change of equipment is up to you as well. The data transmitted wasn't properly checked due to lack of time, so adjustments to the loadout are at your discretion. You should appreciate that they seem to have also prepared it to your tastes as well.」

【1st Lt. Munakata】「Of course I would be ok. I wouldn't die to so easily to such a thing afterall. Although the 1st Lt. Suzumiya might have had a more interesting time.」

【1st Lt. Suzumiya】「It certainly was, but I'd rather not repeat such a thing.」

【Capt. Isumi】「In anycase, I'll be conducting the technical briefing on the XG-70H and the others now. The Susanoo Hachigata was designed to be far more capable than any of the previous HI-MAERFs. The design team chose the name, presumably after testing several other patterns that were rejected. It seats a control crew of 5, which control it like a large warship. The rutherford fields have been modified so they are not a threat to it's escorts, however, it is merely a supporting unit for this operation.」

The lights turned dark, and a projection appeared in the middle of the room of the exterior schematics of the Hachigata appeared

【Capt. Isumi】「It's large size is primarily for it's new purpose as a large support unit. Rather than loading it with resupply pallets on the exterior, it now houses a full rudimentary repair and resupply facility on board. The use of our craft remove the need for launching mechanisms. The repair and reloading mechanisms automatically activate once onboard, and also allow variable fighters to swap loadouts depending on the situation to better suit our needs. It has fewer weapons than the previous XG-70s, but they are more advanced, capable of manipulating it's rutherford fields as weapons. Because the power output problem was solved, the addition of extra weapons was deemed unnecessary bulk. As such it's particle cannon is weaker than even the the Type-Two's to conserve space.」

【Capt. Isumi】「Because the existance of the Alternative Plans and A-01 are Top Secret, even the code name the XO chose for the XG-70 was classified. As such, other unit developers thought the designation Susanoo was available for use. In anycase, it shouldn't matter much in this case. We are not here to discuss the semantics of units, and every unit is assigned a callsign regardless.」

The display disappeared, and swithed to a simple formation map, with the XG-70 ahead, the Alphard in the middle, and everyone else on the flanks.

【Capt. Isumi】「Because I will be coordinating data transfers, Lieutenant Munakata will pilot the first Yukikaze with myself in the backseat. In terms of formation... the XG-70 will be ahead of us and provide fire support, and block enemy movements. The Alphard's superior data processing will provide for real time suggestions to improve combat effectiveness. The Variable fighters will be behind it, and provide bombardment support. Hearing that the girls are accepting their assigned mechas, Yuki breathed a sigh of relief. "Good thing I do not have to explain all the details about the YF-29 Hayate". As for one of them not accepting the mech that they were assigned to, Yuki could care less, after all they themselves know their own strengths and roles. Besides, Yuki does not know the precise details about the unaccepted mech. As to how the Susanoo Hachigata looked like a dog, both Yuki and Kira snickered a bit. "I guess we really should not tell them why is that so,". As for how there seems to be...about four mechs with the name Susanoo, Kira simply gave an aside answer, "Eh, must be a coincidence, after all the god Susanoo is famous anyway", said Kira, referring to the slayer of Yamato no Orochi, Susanoo.

At that point of time however, the lights went out as a projection went on to show the schematics of the Susanoo Hachigata. To Kira and Yuki, this was all something that they both had understood, as they did arrive using the Susanoo Hachigata anyway. They listened intently to the briefing, as after all, they were in this operation. "So, we're the ones in the back huh, I just hope everybody's smart enough to stay out of our S-11 Missiles' way." Then, immediately after that, the briefing of the operation ended and then Kira and Yuki heard that they would be briefing on their unit's strength, in this case for them, the VFF-441 Mave "Yukikaze".

Approaching the group again, Kira and Yuki then started to brief them a bit about the Yukikaze. "Right, you people have seen this Variable Fighter before, and heck, one or two of you have piloted it before, so its safe for us to say that you people would know just what are the strengths of the Yukikaze, considering one of them helped tremendously from what I read in the previous records."

"Anyway, our Yukikaze here is going with the codename of "Apollo". So you people are possibly wondering, what makes this Yukikaze different from the others then? Well, this Yukikaze is customized to be able to make use of Kira's Esper abilities to empower its attacks. It might not be as upgraded as the one Lt. Munakata uses, however, its firepower is onpar with the Lieutenant's firepower if Kira's Esper abilities is utilized. Otherwise though, other than extra thruster upgrades, this Yukikaze is pretty much identical to a normal one."

With them finishing the briefing with regards to the Yukikaze, Kira then spoke up, this time with a casual tone. "So uh, got anything to say to the BETA Superior if we do meet the bastard in the face? I would probably say this, sorry, but, it seems these things you call "non-living beings" are going to utterly kill you a "superior and living being," Kira chuckled a bit.

Setsuna acknowledged the woman's response with a nod. As he walked away he prepared himself for the upcoming mission.

That woman... could she be Gundam too...?

Setsuna paid attention during the briefing and deemed it to be a good plan.

It is good insight that the mission plan isn't very detailed. Data on the BETA deemed them to be unpredictable... Making a complex mission plan against an unpredictable foe would only lead to disaster when they inevitably due something unexpected...

He looked over to his Exia and nodded silently to himself.

This mission... I will use to see if I can become Gundam...!

Misaki nods at Chizuru as the girl agrees to take on the Yukikzae that they have brought along with them. This indeed make her much more confident in their mission than anything.

But then, well, a comment about Susanoo Hachigata being like a dog… Misaki couldn't help but to smile a little in embarrassment. Well, it's a rather good mothership to use, so there's no reason not to abandon it despite how it looks.

"First of all, thank you for taking the Yukikaze, Lt. Sakaki. Second, Lt. Ayamine, I would like to ask of you to relax a little as far as defense goes. This ship may not look like it, but this is by far one of the most sturdy ship that I have ever commanded, and believe it or not, I have been in battleship of all sorts due to my duty. Besides, Kasumi and Nagi here are both excellent in piloting mechanical units that takes punishments like it is no other person's business. I would rest more assured if they are the helmsman and the coordinator for the defense system of the ship. Last but not least, she may not look like it, but Chihiro over here is excellent at resource support and mechanics. With her directing the backfield support during the fight, I would say that you are backed by a great crew of people. Besides, there is a reason why Captain Isumi has directed us, the Hana Club, to take on the mission of handling the support-fire and general support role in a mission as important as this. As much as you may not believe me to be a trust worthy person, I am sure you can believe Captain Isumi by her judgment, no?" Misaki says, rather confident at her rationale. Of course, even though she is saying these words to Lt. Ayamine, she meant to say it to everyone, just to make them more rest assured on the battlefield.

"Well, even though our captain may not look all that flattering, nor is her words extremely flowery, she doesn't really lie, so feel relaxed to trust her." Nagi nods, and quietly supports the words of Misaki.

"Well that's true," Kasumi grins and adds, "Although if Buchou-san can be just sliiiiiiiiiiightly more gentle and sliiiiiiiiiightly bigger, maybe she'd be more appealing, in all various meanings."

"… That's sexual harassment, Kasumi kun."

Misaki coughs, and pretends that she hasn't hear that comment. "Well," She adds, "Rely your defense and support on us, and I am sure that you won't be disappointed. Of course, I won't say stuff such as 'you definitely won't die within our hands,' but you definitely won't die uglily in our hands. As Captain Isumi puts it, don't despair until your last breath. We won't let you die in vain."

"If you don't know our Misaki Buchou, one thing you should know now is the fact that she uses and overuses people like they are some kind of tools. If you haven''t done enough of your share, which is a share you will never be able to do enough, she won't let you go. With that said, she'd definitely somehow or another bring you back to life even if you wanted to die. So, be brave and march on!"

"… That's… a little on the harsh side. You sure you should let her continue talking?" Nagi looks towards Misaki and asks, as Kasumi runs her mouth in front of everyone else.

"Don't worry. I will make sure to report a pay cut if she doesn't know how to keep her mouth shut and do what she is supposed to do." Misaki says, feeling her brain slowly filled with a pot of hot boiled blood.

All five Valkyries saluted when Isumi reminded them of their creed, and proceeded to hear what everyone else was capable of. Well, since their units were probably going to be the frontline vanguards, support defense was a secondary resort for Kei to worry about, and having that huge dogship helped.

However, there were also important things for her to consider.

At the very least, almost everyone seemed confident in their comrades' abilities, though they couldn't help but wonder about Setsuna's aloofness and wondered if he was going to stick with the plan. He didn't seem to say anything to the contrary, but he was neither affirming it.

They were about to ask Estelle's unit's abilities when the PA's feedback echoed across the hangar, signifying another announcement being made.

We don't have as much information about the moon's Primary Objective as we did with the one on Earth, so picking an ideal route to the main hall is going to be haphazard at best. As well, from initial reports, they're encountering other newer species of BETA on the Moon that are vastly different from the ones on Earth. There are even reports of those that can fly now, so that already makes a mission where air superiority is hindered an even harder one."

Like all Hive infiltration missions, your main objective is to reach the Hive Reactor and either eliminate or disable the reactor. However, there is a... slight twist on this. "I've reviewed the battle data from Operation Ouka, and I know none of you want a repeat of the Hive Reactor taking over anyone's unit, so we've been searching for a better way to communicate with the BETA. That was the original thrust of Alternative IV - to be able to successfully communicate with the BETA and find out their objectives. We've managed to get the first part of it done, but now Alternative VI is looking to go a step further - to establish an actual dialogue between Humans and BETA. For this reason, we have acquired a rather... interesting unit."

It utilizes Quantum brainwaves to increase the user's overall battle ability, as well as to communicate battlefield information better and more efficiently to any allied units as well as disrupt it for enemy use. It's the communication part however that we are most interested in, as it was seen effectively communicating with an unknown alien species when we last saw it."

All the girls looked surprised at this, except Meiya. That was probably because Meiya's been more aware of other universes at this point longer than everyone else in the unit, and has already come across it. The others haven't seen the movie either.

Thus, protection of this unit is of the highest importance."

It wouldn't hurt to ask at this point, maybe even get a better idea on what skill points might show up err, wait. Either way, you don't have much time - the mission starts as soon as possible.

Estelle ran closer to the newly revealed unit, the 00 Quan[t], and stopped at the railing to take another look at it. "Amazing..., if only more units were to concentrate on communications then more battles can be avoided." she mumbled in awe. If the communications device was viewable from the outside, she could not identify it. It looked no different then any of the other VEDA mobile suits. The pink-haired princess abruptly turned back to the Professor Kouzuki to ask how such a device worked, how to go about replicating it, and how to use it, but she saw Yuri standing in the back near the Tallgeese Zero. He shook his head but could not hide the amused smile on his face.

She had to focus on the mission, Estelle forced herself to concentrate despite her aching curiosity."Professor Kouzuki," Estelle began after a short pause, "were any BETA species that were fought against in previous battles identified at this hive? Do you have the data on them?"

If you dodge their first charge, just shoot their backs.」

Isumi】「The other 2 species, the Warrior and Soldier class, are incapable of harming mecha weapons, and are thus unnecessary to engage for such a short mission unless they block the route directly. These are all the ones we have classified so far. There are also two more species known, but are yet unclassified. All the others have yet to be identified, much less evaluated. For the most part, the BETA are poor strategists and tacticians. Some find it difficult to even consider them truly intelligent.」

"Stop...stop doing that briefing shit and turning off the lights all the damn time." Terence muttered distractedly as the captain began her explanation of the various BETA types they would be encountering on this mission. He wasn't that annoyed with all the demonstrations, but he was getting impatient for action and having her suddenly just begin explaining things was beginning to throw him off. "I'm sure the refresher course is nice but I already got briefed on this a while back before I even arrived here. Although I guess I might have been the only one."

He scratched his head irritably before shaking his head. "Quick question though. From what I heard of uh...Operation Ouka, the Superior BETA that was fought over there was kind of an asshole. It certainly didn't sound too fond of peaceful negotiations or anything of the sort. So we're trying to communicate them...because why? It seems rather evident that what BETA care for is the destruction of humanity or at least the takeover of territory. So would establishing a dialogue really...benefit you in any way besides knowing for certain that they want to kill you all? I'm not sure establishing a link would have any sort of big picture impact."

He sighed and shrugged. "If that's the mission though, there's nothing else we can do about it. Also, just how many new types of BETA do you think we'll encounter in there? I mean...she seems to already know most of the general ones and if there are more BETA species out there, why haven't they been used in the assault on Earth yet?"
